Tips for Empaths in the Horse World
I’m going to explain a little more about being an empath in the horse world, as well as give you some tools to help you in everyday life, especially if you identify as an empath.
Definition of an empath: a person with paranormal ability to perceive the mental emotional state of another individual.
For me: I describe being an empath as someone who can feel things even without realizing it, which can be used to keep you safe, as well as cause distress if you’re not aware.
I’ve known for many years that I’m able to sense how people are feeling. This is why I have a hard time with social functions, especially if I don’t know too many people.
It can feel overwhelming to feel relaxed and neutral when it feels like waves of energy coming at me in so many different directions.
This even happens when I’m around a lot of my friends at once. I often feel stretched thin as I would love to give everyone attention, rather than just bounce around the room with just brief encounters.
I love to have deep and meaningful connections in conversations. Can you relate to this?
Here’s another example: I was training six Andalusian stallions for an owner who insisted he was going to prepare a paddock where they could each run around and feel more horse-like. Their situation consisted of being in box stalls for about 22 hours per day, with the other time either going on a hot walker, placed in cross-ties or being ridden.
I took the position with the understanding that their situation would get better. After three months, it became apparent that they were never going to leave their confinement, and I simply couldn’t handle the sadness around it.
I ended up crying on one of the younger horses; on Valentine’s Day no less… a day where you’re very much focused on all things to do with your heart.
When I finally resigned that evening before falling asleep, I decided to imagine I was in each of their stalls, giving them love and telling them how sorry I was that couldn’t help them any longer.
When you feel so much and are aware of other beings feelings, sometimes the best thing you can do is remove yourself from a situation where you have to be subjected to negative energy.
But what happens if you’re stuck in a situation where you just can’t leave?
Here are some tips that I’ve used.
Now, I’d love for you to consider why empaths are generally drawn to horses.
It’s pretty much the law of attraction... Horses are the ultimate empaths. They can feel and sense things that most humans are oblivious to. I’m sure this isn’t news to you. By being aware that they are empaths as well, it’s important to help them as much as possible by being willing to hold space for them… meaning allow them to feel what they are feeling without trying to change them.
Challenge yourself to get quiet, slow down and really listen to what they need.
